Public Health Prevention Service (PHPS)
from Nationally Coveted College Scholarships and Graduate Fellowships
Deadline: February 15, 2008
The Public Health Prevention Service (PHPS) Program is a 3-year on-the-job national service and training program offered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to master’s-level health professionals. Training and work assignments provide opportunities for participants to apply their public health skills in program management at the local, state, national, and international levels. Participants learn through on-the-job and formal training as well as work assignments at CDC headquarters and in state and local health agencies.
Each year, we select a new class of 25 Prevention Specialists. Interviews for the Prevention Specialist positions are conducted in April 2008. The program begins in early October 2008.
We are excited about the PHPS Program because it provides field experience for persons developing their public health careers and responds to the growing need for public health professionals with additional practical skills to tackle increasingly complex public health issues.
This letter includes information regarding the application format.
