Presentation and Objectives
Zaragoza Logistics Center currently provides a number of scholarships each year for students of the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics & Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program.

In October 2007 ZLC signed with INCAE Business School a memorandum of understanding with the purpose of outlining the principles and a plan of implementation for a Dual Master’s Degree Program that has been established between the two parties. The objective of the program is to allow students to earn both a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) at the INCAE Business School in Campus Alajuela, Costa Rica, and a Master of Engineering in Logistics & Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) at the Zaragoza Logistics Center in Zaragoza, Spain.


This joint degree program will prepare students for careers that combine general management capabilities with specialized logistics and supply chain management skills. The need for professionals with a sophisticated understanding of complex management issues and the ability to design and operate global networks which are constantly in flux is clear and the unique resources available at both schools can deliver that needed understanding and knowledge.


In compliance with this wide collaboration and their joint objectives, ZLC has established and will award “ZLOG INCAE Scholarships” in order to assure financial aid for students of the Dual Degree Master’s Program with INCAE or employees from INCAE Business School in Costa Rica who whish to complete the ZLOG Program.


Coverage
ZLC will award scholarships consisting of reductions in tuition for the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics & Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program, which currently amounts to €21,500. The reductions will depend on the applicants’ academic achievements and distinctive personal accomplishment in addition to an interest in pursing a career in Logistics/Supply Chain Management. The reductions available are as followed:
- 25 % (€5,375) ?- 50 % (€10,750) ?- 100 % (€21,500)


The scholarships will not include all other costs like administrative fees, books, health insurance and living or travel expenses to Zaragoza or Boston for the international exchange.


Eligibility
Scholarships are awarded only to students who have been admitted to the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics & Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program through the Foundation’s regular admissions procedure.


Candidates will be expected to show extraordinary potential for leadership and professional success, bringing new vision and commitment to the area of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.


Furthermore, to be eligible you must comply with the following criteria:

  • Student of the Dual Degree Master’s Program with INCAE or employee from INCAE Business School in Costa Rica.
  • Granted admission to the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics & Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program.
  • Fluency in English, minimum TOEFL score of 105 points in the Internet based test.
  • Completion of a four year undergraduate program equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • GMAT score equivalent or higher than 650 or GRE score equivalent or higher than 760. Exceptions may be granted to individuals who have demonstrated strong academic achievement in completing a college degree - including some quantitative training - and evidence of advanced verbal and written proficiency in the English language.
  • Professional excellence in Logistics/Supply Chain Management or exceptional academic achievement (minimum GPA of 3.5 on the scale of 4.0 or equivalent).


Application Process and Documents
Candidates must fulfil all of the above-mentioned requirements and submit one original copy of the following documents to the ZLC Financial Aid Office:


1. Application form
Each scholarship applicant will fill out the scholarship application form including the following: an essay stating their interests, qualifications, and related experience; a statement describing their economical situation and explaining their reasons for applying for the scholarship.


2. Income Statement
Copy of employment contact, last pay slip or other official document that can account for the last salary received. (Not applicable for applicants who are currently full-time students).


3. Copy of Passport


4. Admissions Letter
Copy of the admissions letter to the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics & Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program.

Deadline
The deadline for the ZLOG Scholarships application is April 15th 2009. Early application is however encouraged. All supporting documentation to the application must be postmarked by the respective date listed above.


Incomplete applications will NOT be considered.


Selection Criteria and Process
Competition for the ZLOG scholarships is intense and highly competitive. The candidates will be chosen on the basis of:

  • Ability to make a significant contribution to the discipline of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, with a strong aptitude for analysis and a creative approach to defining and solving problems.
  • Recognition of the importance of personal integrity and ethical decision making.
  • Enthusiastic pursuit of self-improvement and a desire to be at the forefront in the creation and discovery of new knowledge.
  • Experience and interest in working in multicultural teams.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with background or work experience in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

The ZLC Evaluation Committee will identify the finalists by April 30th 2009. Phone interviews will be scheduled with all finalists by May 10th 2009.


Applicants will be notified by e-mail of the outcome and furthermore the scholarship holder will receive an award letter.
